I started taking yoga when I was 67 years old. For some time, I had lower back pain and the beginning of numbness down my left leg. I had never had a regular or consistent “exercise” plan or commitment, but when I walked into 2B Well my life began to change. I am three years into my yoga practice, and I am continually amazed at my strength, endurance, flexibility and calm. My back has improved and the numbness is gone. There is not a one-size-fits-all attitude at 2B Well. All the instructors are skilled and knowledgeable to help with specific needs and levels of every participant. I continue to attend classes regularly to learn new ways of improving my practice and improving my body’s usefulness for a long life. I do know is that my yoga practice is part of my lifestyle now. I look forward to doing some amount of yoga every day. I don’t feel it as drudgery, but as opportunity to live a much stronger and healthy life for my family, friends, and me. The supportive and genuine yoga leaders at 2B Well truly care about sharing the path to a healthier me.

Yoga is like the breath of life and can really make a difference in the quality of our lives. It helps you to feel better physically, emotionally and mentally. I believe that I am a healthier and stronger person due to yoga. It is also fun to meet others that are getting such great results and the tools they need to better their lives. I highly recommend yoga for the enrichment that it brings to your life.

Fourteen years ago I started attending yoga class after my doctor recommended yoga for my fibromyalgia pain. I have continued my yoga practice weekly ever since and look forward to my Gentle Yoga class each week. The teachers at 2B Well are wonderful, and I’ve met many nice people there. It is such an uplifting positive place and I always feel a sense of peace and relaxation when I leave class. Namaste.

I am 64 years old and having been taking yoga classes at 2B Well less than two years. I began this journey to appease a friend who kept begging (bugging?) me to go to class with her. I finally went, expecting NOT to like yoga, and now take two or three classes a week. I tell people all the time how much I love yoga, and if it were in my budget and work schedule, I would be there every day. I have bad joints and have had foot, knee, and shoulder surgery. I also have arthritis in my hands, I have hip joints that talk to me, and I am a candidate for knee replacement surgery. As an elementary teacher, my goal was to be able to get on the floor with my students AND to be able to get up from the floor. I can do that today because of yoga, and believe I am stronger than I have been in years.
My instructor, Linda Jones, quickly learns our limitations and stresses to all students in her classes how to adapt the poses. She makes us all feel successful. It is so different from gym classes where one feels they are on display. I could care less what any one else in my yoga class is doing; I am focused on me! Age and gender do not matter in yoga. My only regret is that I didn’t begin this journey earlier in my life. I am thankful everyday for being introduced to yoga.

I first started taking yoga about a year ago. My brother had been diagnosed with leukemia, and as his only family in the area, I was spending a large portion of my time sitting with him. It was a very stressful situation, mentally, physically and spiritually. As a caregiver, I was used to giving, but soon came to realize I needed to receive and rejuvenate myself. I made a decision that changed my life. I started taking yoga with Linda Jones.
I made an appointment to have individualized instruction, and Linda talked with me to discover what my needs were, before creating an individualized program for me. She compassionately and skillfully guided me through some yoga poses, and I discovered that the time spent doing yoga was wisely spent. As my stress level dealing with my brother increased, yoga allowed me to focus on myself and receive support. I reaped physical benefits, as well and became stronger, and more resilient. I was also able to become more centered through my practice. I am confident my practice allowed me to handle my brother’s death with grace, receiving compassion from those supporting me.
As my confidence in my ability increased, I began to become more aware of the benefits I was feeling. I enrolled in a class taught by Linda. My yoga experience was very limited and I wasn’t sure I would have the skills necessary to participate in a class setting. At the first class meeting, I discovered more of Linda’s skills. She walked around, gave support and guidance and kept the instructions clear. There was no push to be perfect or do all of the poses expertly. We were encouraged to do our best, and to give our best effort.
Linda uses blocks, blankets, and chairs to assist us in our poses. She is very conscious of healthy movement, no straining or bending in any way that would do harm to our bodies. She explains things so class participants understand the method of getting into and out of poses, as well as the benefits of the poses she teaches, and helps us grow at our own individual rate.
As I reflect on my experience as a yoga practitioner, I am aware of many benefits. My body feels more alive and stronger than it has in years. I am motivated to take better care of myself because respect for my body has increased. I can accomplish more poses with less difficulty than I could just two months ago, and I have a new appreciation of listening to my body. I look forward to practicing and watching my body respond with increasing flexibility and strength. I sleep better, and have less aches and pains. I have a happy body!
In many ways, my practice saved my life. I have increased confidence about growing stronger physically in the future. I feel my home practice gives me focus. I feel rejuvenated physically, spiritually and mentally after my practice. I seem to be more aware of my surroundings and grateful for the gifts of daily life. My mindfulness has increased. I know I have support from Linda, and my other classmates as well. I look forward to many years of practicing yoga!

Each week I look so forward to my time “on the mat” with this vigorous style of yoga! The instructors are knowledgeable and caring as they pay a great deal of attention to the postures of their students when moving in and out of poses. The use of various props are encouraged which promotes success! I enjoy the challenge that each pose is held a little longer than in other yoga classes I have taken. The atmosphere is inviting, serene and exudes that feeling of health and harmony.

When I first started yoga, it was simply a class I enjoyed with friends once or twice a week. Over the years it has evolved into a lifestyle that I have learned to incorporate into my everyday living. From learning techniques to gently strengthen my core, to listening to and being aware of my body, to creating balance both in my body and in life, to relaxation and restorative benefits – for all this I am grateful. On my yoga journey, I have learned, and with practice and still learning, in order that I can say “all is well in my world – and so it is…” Namaste.

Many years ago, I had major back surgery that left me with excruciating and chronic pain. I was uncomfortable and irritable most of the time, and found myself utilizing whatever means necessary to make myself feel better. I was deeply unhappy, and I watched myself transform into someone I didn’t recognize, and certainly not someone I wanted to be. A girlfriend suggested one day I accompany her to yoga for back pain. That day marked the beginning of a shift for me, both physically and spiritually.
After a short time, it became clear that the instructors were incredibly knowledgeable about the body and how yoga can be used to heal from pain. I wanted to deepen my understanding and learn tools to practice at home, so I began taking private sessions with Betsy. During that time, in addition to being my yoga instructor, she became and continues to be my grief counselor and spiritual advisor, my nutrition and supplement expert, and my dear friend. She taught me how to sit, stand, and move with consciousness throughout my day to help my back heal. I also receive nourishment for my soul, which yearns for the continuity of peace and wellbeing throughout the week. Pain, on so many levels, is being lifted, and I am becoming the person I was meant to be.
I came to 2B Well with chronic back issues, and I received so much more than I could have every imagined – a deep understanding of my body, tools to communicate authentically with people in my life, and an unprecedented spiritual nourishment. I do believe something magical happened when I came to 2B Well for the first time. And I am deeply grateful for the path that led me there.
I’ve been practicing yoga for several years at 2B Well and I tell people all the time, “I don’t know where I would be today if it wasn’t for yoga.” I was a physically active teenager and experienced many sports injuries that ultimately caused scar tissue and misalignment of muscles. For years I struggled with pain and discomfort that limited my enjoyment of life. For me, yoga is like a great recipe. By following the specific sequence of postures over time, yoga has allowed my body to realign, release pain and heal, and enabled me to become stronger and more flexible in body, mind, and spirit. This has been possible due to the depth of knowledge, safety, and unconditional support of the instructors. Betsy and Linda have gently guided me through the process. The studio is a welcoming and safe place to do yoga, and a peaceful place to leave the outside world behind. Come and join in the fun and you too might find yourself never wanting to miss a yoga session again!
Prenatal Yoga Testimonials
Denise is great! She is very knowledgeable and extremely helpful. I like how she walks around the room and helps with poses individually. Yoga has helped ease my stress and the physical discomforts of pregnancy. I’ve also really enjoyed the discussions we have at the beginning and end of each class which have helped me connect with the other women. The increased flexibility, the stretching and breathing exercises, and the positive and encouraging words stated at the end of each class have greatly prepared me for labor and delivery.
Love it! Love how my body feels. Love being less stressed. Love Denise. I have never done yoga before and I feel like she explains everything beautifully. I am less nervous for childbirth because I feel my body is prepared and is made to handle it. It’s also fun to be around others who are going through the same thing. On yoga days I go home happier and more flexible about life’s changes. Even my husband notices. He loves yoga days because my attitude is so positive after!
